This itinerary takes us through one of the biodiversity hotspots in the world. Kaçkar Mountains National Park is the most gorgeous part of the alpine mountain range in North-Eastern Turkey, which is a gate to the Caucasus. While we trek this beautiful landscape we will have a chance to see nearly 700 species of plants, and 50 of them being endemic to the national park. Considering the fact that Turkey has the highest biodiversity in the temperate zone, this is what you expect while you explore Turkey on foot.
Hospital and colorful Hemşin and Laz people of the area, tasty food, glacier valleys, ice-bridges, waterfalls, alpine meadows, spruce, and beech forests are some of the reasons which make this trip outstanding.
One of the best village pansions in the East Kaçkars, Çamyuva resembles a big Swiss chalet, with comfortable pine-clad rooms (best upstairs), decent en-suite bathrooms and a shared lounge with views across the valley.
Kaçkar Pansiyon is where the dirt track ends, you are on the trails to the big glacier lake. This pansion provides clean rooms, hot shower, and very tasty food and picnic boxes for the next days trek like all others in the vicinity.
We spend 1 night in tents during this trip. Vaude or similar well-established brand tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, and a toilet tent are provided. We enjoy a warm dinner at the communal tent.
Şahin Pansiyon is one of the oldest, high-altitude accommodations of Turkey. It consists of a row of cabins, heated, with a hot shower and a mind-blowing panorama to wake up for.
A bit of luxury while descending on the north side of the Kaçkar range. Natura Lodge is situated on the east side of the valley with spectacular beech, sprıce, and waterfall views. It is 2 minutes walking distance to the natural springs to soak.
Mell Boutique Hotel has unique architecture unlike most hotels in Trabzon. It is smartly situated with spacious rooms facing the Black Sea.
